They didn’t think it was possible, so we did it.

BirdyFish was created with the aim of democratising the practice of foil dinghies, to enable all enthusiasts to explore the sensations of flying on the water.

Today, BirdyFish is the first and only 2-in-1 double foil dinghy capable of meeting several of your needs: learning to foil in a dinghy and looking for performance in a regatta.

Racing technology for learning

1- Stability

The two J-shaped foils and T-shaped rudder provide great stability, allowing you to fly safely and concentrate fully on the sensations of the flight. The scow hull gives you the power to take off quickly and land smoothly.

2- Simplified manoeuvring

The sails, helm and crew position are the only adjustments needed when sailing the BirdyFish. The weight of the crew is used to regulate trim, facilitate take-off or accelerate. The foils make it easier to right the boat. You don’t need to rappel into the strong straps to get the boat off the ground. Sitting comfortably on the box allows you to concentrate on the helm and the sails.

3- Take-off from 8 knots

The build-up of power in the BirdyFish is gradual. You can take off from 8-10 knots, to get to grips with your first low-speed flights, before accelerating to discover the sensations of full-power flight.

Challenge yourself alongside 15 BirdyFish

The BirdyFish is an excellent learning tool, but once you’ve mastered the basics, it reveals all its racing potential. It’s an opportunity to compete with a one-design boat, using the same weapons. Thanks to its simplicity, you can concentrate fully on the game of speed and racing.

1- Exceptional speed

Classic dinghies or catamarans very rarely exceed 20 knots of instantaneous speed, even though they are more advanced after hours of practice. Flying a Birdyfish offers the promise of reaching speeds usually unattainable by sailing boats.

For example, the BirdyFish has a speed record of 27 knots.

2 – Adaptability to conditions

The BirdyFish is capable of adapting to a wide range of sea and wind conditions. In plenty of wind, its flying performance is enhanced by the presence of Ris on the mainsail and jib. When the wind isn’t there, she’s perfectly capable of racing in classic dinghy mode, even if the gennaker allows her to take off at 8 knots.

If you prefer a flat boat to reach the highest speeds, the Birdyfish handles very well in swell and reasonable waves.

3 – Agility and responsiveness

The BirdyFish has a simple deck planter with all the lines returned within easy reach. Sitting on the caisson, you can plan all the manoeuvres and with a simple change of side and a few fathoms for the headsails, you’ll find yourself on the other side.
The wide cockpit means that 3 people can move from side to side with ease, and manoeuvre the boat with ease.

This year, we set up our first circuit of 4 regattas: the BirdyFish Vaikobi Trophy. By taking part, you’ll be able to share some sporting and friendly moments with other BirdyFish owners. The Grand Prix de l’Armistice from 1 to 3 November is the last regatta on the circuit, so contact us if you’d like to take part!

It’s the last regatta in 2024 before an even richer programme next year, which we’ll be unveiling very soon.

A scalable and versatile foiling dinghy

What really makes the BirdyFish a ‘2 in 1’ foiling dinghy is its ability to evolve with your level.

A beginner can be introduced to the sensations of foiling in complete safety, while an experienced sailor can look for much more performance, speeds unattainable on a classic dinghy and one-design racing that is anything but ordinary.

This versatility means the BirdyFish can help you achieve your goals and offer you the best of both worlds, making foiling accessible and exhilarating.
